About VinylBuff
The national directory of hand-verified independent vinyl record stores.
What we do
VinylBuff is a directory built for record hunters — people who want to walk into a real store, flip through real bins, and leave with something they didn't know they were looking for. We index independent vinyl record shops across the United States, organized by city and state, with enough detail to know whether a store is worth the trip before you make it.
Every store in our directory has been verified to sell vinyl records. We list what they carry, what genres they specialize in, whether they buy records, and whether they participate in Record Store Day. Hours, addresses, ratings, and links are updated regularly.
How stores get listed
We source stores from publicly available data and verify each one by hand. A listing goes live only after we've confirmed the store exists, is open, and actually sells vinyl. We don't list every business that mentions records in its name — we list record stores.
Store owners can submit their shop through our Add Your Store form. Basic listings are free. Featured placements — which put a store at the top of its city page — are available for a monthly fee. We'll never accept payment to list a store that doesn't meet our standards.
Why we built it
Finding a good record store in an unfamiliar city is harder than it should be. Search results mix stores with cafés that have a few records on the wall. Review platforms don't filter by genre specialty or whether a shop buys collections. We wanted something more useful — a directory built around how record collectors actually shop.
VinylBuff is built to help you find stores worth visiting, whether you're after rare jazz pressings, used punk, or just want to browse a well-curated shop on a Saturday afternoon.
